I highly recommend that everyone read Charlotte Iserbyt's book, The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America. There are also interviews with her on youtube. unlimitedhangout.com also has some great stuff about the education system (you have to search the site for the articles, and they are long, but well researched). Also, UN Agenda 2030 (UN partnered with World Economic Forum in 2019 to accelerate Agenda 2030) controls the education system now. And the curriculum includes comprehensive sex ed, DEI, and SEL. Georgia is all in on it, as is Florida, etc.
Dr. Sandra Stotsky's book on Common Core is another need to read. Most parents put their children in public school and don't realize the trauma most teachers (Board of Education members) are allowing to be done to their children.
My niece, who lives in NY, taught herself cursive. Then when she came to visit me at Cornell she could read E. B. White's hand written manuscript of Charlotte's Web and the Bancroft copy of The Gettysburg Address written by Abraham Lincoln himself. What a loss it would have been if she could only stare blindly at these two gems.

Common Core statutorily was a Pilot program that ended in June, 2018 for most schools. It was added nefariously to many school districts. Parents and residents need to speak up and have their elected Boards of Education make the Superintendents do their job-- they are ruining life for many children!! SEL, DEI and Comprehensive S€x -- how do Superintendents sleep at night... Well I guess 350,000/year allows "my" guy to sleep.... Evil....
We hope that a restoration of conservatives in the state House and Senate this November will restore and improve public education in our state.

And having opened 5 months into the pandemic, which I thought was too soon, hybrid helped keep the spread down, but we still had periods where we had to go fully remote because too many teachers were sick or had to quarantine. By Spring break 2021 we were back to fully in person. There is no uniform experience with school closures in the US because so many districts made their own decisions and plans for how to reopen. That is the whole point of having local school boards largely in charge of how schools operate, parents can vote out boards they don't think are managing the schools properly.
These are the fruits of the long march through the institutions. The radicals on the far left have been working on this for decades. Thankfully, the current administration is working at break neck pace to reverse as much as possible, but ultimately it will be up to us, the parents to continue to take our children and schools back. It will not be top down, but bottom up.

Our schools opened in September 2020. Where did they stay closed for 15 months?
California. Also reopening with masks distancing testing, hybrid learning is not really open schools. Where are you located?

And I don't get all the complaints about masking. I wouldn't have let my kids go back without those kinds of precautions.
