No one is coming to save our kids but us.
Restore Childhood is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that makes documentary films, parent resources and books. This newsletter is where we report what institutions would rather parents never see, and where we give families the tools to take childhood back.
Who I am
I’m Natalya Murakhver, Restore Childhood’s co-founder and executive director. My family brought me from Odessa to Brooklyn when I was six, and New York City public schools gave me my English and my footing in a new country. I’m a mother of two daughters and a former New York City public school parent activist.
I directed 15 DAYS: The Real Story of America’s Pandemic School Closures, and I co-directed Uncancellable, a film about Maud Maron’s race for Manhattan district attorney.
What we cover
School Closures: who shut America’s schools, who profited, and what it cost a generation.
Gender: the evidence on youth gender medicine, and the families living with it.
Girlhood: what the culture is doing to girls and young women.
Lost Books: the great children’s books that went out of print, and where to find them.
The Podcast: long conversations with the people in these stories.
